Clean and plenty of hot water too! Our bathroom at the Ecce Homo Convent, Via Dolorosa, Jerusalem
Our room at Notre Dame de Zion
The Sisters of Our Lady of Sion run a fabulous guest house in the Ecce Homo Convent. First of all, the location can’t be beat! You’re right on the Via Dolorosa! The convent actually houses the first station of the cross! It is where Pilate is thought to have presented Jesus to the mob and said “Behold the man”. There are Roman ruins in the basement that you can visit. At the same time it was less than a 10 minute walk to the Western Wall!
Nightime view out over the Old City and the Dome of the Rock taken from the rooftrop terrace at Ecce Homo.
The room was also very clean and quiet – apart from the nearby minarets – but that can’t be helped. In the morning, they serve a great breakfast which is self-serve and included in the price. The rooftop has a great terrace with a fantastic view out over the Old City. One night we decided to have a picnic. So we bought a bunch of stuff for dinner and sat out on the roof of our hotel, overlooking the Dome of the Rock!
