We arrived after a very long bus ride from Denizli (close to Pamukkale). We were told at the Denizli otogar that we couldn’t make it to Goreme in one day – but we guessed that was mainly because there were no bus companies that operated direct buses from Denizli. We took a chance and got on a bus that put us to the closest major city, Konya. Konya has an ultra-modern clean otogar. We found an evening bus that took us to Goreme. We were a little nervous because both our guidebooks warned strongly about bus companies that would promise to take you to Goreme, but then drop you off in the middle of the night at Nevshehir, 10 miles away, with no transportation provided to Goreme proper. We were promised up and down that the company we took would go all the way – but nonetheless we were very relieved when the bus actually did make the turn towards Goreme.
