We tried to stay at the Meorujang love motel in Seroak-dong, close to Seoraksan National Park, recommended by the Lonely Planet. Well, it was supposed to be close. It ended up being a good 3 km walk. It had actually changed its name to Sorak Love Motel, or Sorak Love Resortel, but it was a good room and fortunately there is a bus that runs every 10 minutes or so to the park itself. All the accomodations near the park were at least $150 a night, so we were happy with our $30 a night. The front desk didn’t speak a word of English, so reservations in advance didn’t look possible – or even remotely necessary as the hotel looked empty.

Hi Ian and Wendy,
I’ll visit Korea in Nov. I’m very interested to stay in this motel.
What bus shall i take to Seoraksan National Park if i stay in that motel?
Do you have the map from that motel to National Park?
$30 per night is for 2 persons? Is the room attached with bath room?
Thanks!

Yes, the rate we got was $30 for 2 people, with attached bathroom. If I remember right, there is only one bus from the village in to the national park, so it’s hard to go wrong. Have a great trip!
