At the entrance to the Andong Folk Village. From here it's up, up, up...
We spent today exploring Andong and the Hahoe Village. We started at the Andong Folk Village. According to our guide book it’s a group of houses that were relocated when they built a dam and flooded a alley. To us, it certainly seemed that they were still building new ones and it didn’t help that our guidebook had no information, the village is straight uphill and it was hot. Very hot.
We finally gave up and went to the adjacent Andong Folk Museum. We wish we had started there! Beautiful dioramas explaining traditional Korean life and everything labeled in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese. Since the Koreans are just a little organized, the museum has footprints you follow around so that you see everything in the order it was meant to be seen. Of course.
