To celebrate our tenth anniversary, we had dinner at Ca’Bianca again last night. It’s one of our favorite restaurants, with great Italian food and attentive service. The restaurant is in a historic home that was built in 1876. It has a beautiful interior with crystal chandeliers, wall murals and fireplaces. There is also a sunroom which gives you a feeling of the outdoors but stays warm on cool nights. But the highlight for us, especially on a warm night, is sitting outside on their wide wooden porch and dining overlooking their wonderful garden. (There are no heat lamps).
There are daily specials in addition to the regular menu. While the menu isn’t huge, there is plenty of selection and I always find vegetarian options. Appetizers are large and are easily enough for two. We started by splitting the Polenta e Funghi which is polenta topped with mushrooms and gorgonzola cheese which we thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Melanzane alla Parmigiana – which is an appetizer – as an entree last night and it was plenty large enough! It was also delicious and I definitely recommend it if you’re fond of eggplant. Ian had a special – the beef fillet – which was very good and cooked just the way he wanted it. We split a chocolate and almond cake topped with gelato. It was good, but not great. We’ve enjoyed some of their other desserts more.
We’ve been going to Ca’Bianca for years now and we consistently have the same servers. The service is always good and they really know the menu. Seeing the same people again and again also gives us confidence that the people who work there are treated well and enjoy being there.
